I am an
experienced
information seeker, who has worked enthusiastically to share my passion for
finding knowledge for more than three decades, first in secondary
research and
then in primary research.
I've worked in the marketing/marketing research business for almost 20
years.
I have experience on both the client and supplier sides. The positions
I've held incorporate all aspects of research, including: proposal
writing, methodology and questionnaire design, data collection, analysis
and
reporting. I have worked primarily with clients and for companies
in
the IT industry but also has exposure to research in other industries,
including: CPG, Healthcare, Hospitality, Media/Entertainment,
Pharmaceuticals,
Telecom and Utilities.
In addition
to extensive work experience, I am well grounded educationally,
with an
MBA from Iona College,
New Rochelle, NY
and doctoral courses in research methods and statistics completed at Rutgers University, New
Brunswick, NJ. I also have a Masters in
Library Science from SUNY College at Geneseo,
NY.
In order to
get a better understanding of the creative side of business
communications that
are evaluated with marketing research, I completed a certificate in
Graphic Arts from the Atlanta College of Art, Atlanta, GA.
Most
recently, I was on contract as a Marketing Research Analyst for
LexisNexis, a leading provider of fee-based legal research services. In
this position, I conducted web-based marketing research studies for
internal clients. The extent of this position includes: determining
appropriate methodology, designing and programming questionnaires using
Market
Tools, building and launching sample within Market Tools, using the
Market
Tools reporting element to produce cross tabulations, designing and
writing
reports and presenting these reports to the internal client.
I worked as a Senior Research Associate at TNS (now Kantar WPP) for nine years,
until
impacted by lay-offs, conducting marketing research studies for external clients in a variety of industries including: IT, CPG, Financial Services, Hospitality and Pharamceuticals. Prior to that, I was the Marketing Research
Manager at Ross Systems, an ERP software company. In that role, I supported senior management and marketing product managers by supplying
primary
and secondary information to support both strategic and tactical
decision
making.
Additionally,
I was the Senior Project Manager/Analyst at Specifics, Inc., a
marketing
research firm that works exclusively with IT software and services
organizations. In this position, I gained experience conducting
IDI’s for Won/Lost sales analyses. I also worked as a Marketing
Information Specialist for the Business Forms and Systems Division of
Moore
Corporation (now incorporated into RR Donnelley), a former Fortune 500
company,
and as an Account Manager/Trainer for NOTIS Systems, a company that
develops
ERP-type software for academic libraries.
Finally,
I began my career working as a reference librarian in academic and
public
libraries, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Business Information
Systems and a
trainer of library management software.
